From 2011 to 2014, the FCAT 2.0 was used to measure student achievement of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards in Reading and Mathematics. Additionally, beginning in 2011, Florida began phasing in Florida End-of-Course (EOC) Assessments, and the Algebra 1 EOC was administered for the first time that year. In 2012, FCAT 2.0 Science was administered for the first time (renamed the Statewide Science Assessment in 2015), and EOC assessments for Geometry and Biology 1 were administered for the first time. In 2012, although the test name remained “FCAT Writing,” the scoring standards for FCAT 2.0 Writing were fully implemented and the test name was officially changed the following year. Beginning in 2013, a social studies EOC assessment in U.S. History was added, followed by the Civics EOC assessment in 2014. In spring 2015, the FCAT 2.0 and initial Algebra 1 and Geometry EOCs were replaced by the Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, as well as FSA Algebra 1 and Geometry EOC assessments, to measure student achievement of the Florida Standards. The statewide science and social studies assessments continue to be administered.
