FCAT Science SSS Scores

The FCAT Science Sunshine State Standards (SSS) test was a criterion-referenced test. It assessed student achievement on the knowledge and skills described in the state curriculum framework called the Sunshine State Standards. FCAT Science was first administered in 2003 in grades 5, 8, and 10. In the 2004-05 school year, testing in high school was moved from grade 10 to grade 11.

In the 2010-2011 school year, the statewide assessment program began transitioning to assessing student achievement of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) through the implementation of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test® 2.0 (FCAT 2.0) and Florida End-of-Course (EOC) Assessments. FCAT Science continued to be administered in spring 2011 while reading and mathematics assessments transitioned to assessing the NGSSS first. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the following NGSSS statewide science assessments were administered and FCAT Science was discontinued: FCAT 2.0 Science in grades 5 and 8 and Biology 1 EOC Assessment.
