Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund

The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund was created through the CARES Act to provide additional funds to support education systems across the nation, including workforce and postsecondary sectors. Florida received $173,585,880 of GEER funding through the CARES Act (GEER I) and $75,798,840 of GEER funding through the CRRSA Act (GEER II). Governor DeSantis leveraged this funding to complement ongoing statewide initiatives and additional activities funded through ESSER with a focus on:

  • Rapid credentialing for areas with critical workforce needs;
  • Expansion of apprenticeship and dual enrollment programs;
  • Summer recovery and learning loss mitigation activities; and
  • Career and Technical Education and workforce pathway supports.
