August 2025 GEM Pep Rally

Tallahassee, Fla., August 15, 2025 - During the August Go the Extra Mile (GEM) Pep Rally, Commissioner Anastasios “Stasi” Kamoutsas announced Regina Barker, Learning Grant Specialist in the Division of Early Learning, as the GEM Employee of the Month. Regina was recognized for her more than 14 years of experience with the Division of Early Learning, her steadfast commitment to supporting Florida’s early education programs, and her mentorship and leadership in strengthening her team. The event also celebrated the success of the Florida Department of Education's annual School Supply Drive, which collected an impressive number of donations to support students across the state. Chancellor Kevin O’Farrell thanked staff for their generosity, noting how their contributions help ensure students begin the school year prepared and confident. Commissioner Kamoutsas also reflected on the accomplishments of the 2024–2025 academic year, highlighting departmental milestones and the continued success of Florida students.
