2023 Sunshine State Scholar Conference

Tallahassee, FL, April 27, 2023 – Florida Department of Education honored the state’s top students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Florida’s 26th annual Sunshine State Scholars conference in Orlando, FL, hosted by the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Education Foundation.

More than 100 students attended the 2-day event where twenty-eight students were awarded 1-year scholarships funded by State Farm and the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.

Each year, Florida school districts select their top 11th grade STEM students for the Sunshine State Scholars program. These scholars, along with their parents, engage in an extraordinary program designed to connect them with Florida’s postsecondary education institutions and employers that specialize in the STEM fields.
