Charter School Review Commission
Per Section 1002.3301, Florida Statutes, the Charter School Review Commission was created within the Department of Education to review and approve applications for charter schools overseen by district school boards. The Charter School Review Commission may solicit and review applications for charter schools overseen by district school boards and, upon the commission approving an application, the district school board that oversees the school district in which the charter school will be located shall serve as sponsor.
Application Process
The Department of Education has contracted with the Florida Institute for Charter Innovation at Miami-Dade College to provide administrative and technical assistance to the commission by reviewing and providing an analysis of charter school applications submitted to the commission.

Upcoming Meetings
The Charter School Review Commission welcomes and encourages public participation at all meetings of the Board. Members of the public may attend a Commission meeting in-person and provide public comment on meeting agenda items under the guidelines provided by the Commission. To maintain orderly conduct and decorum at all Commission meetings any action that creates disruption, including speaking out of turn or making noises when not recognized, is prohibited. Additionally, no signs, props, or placards, regardless of their message, are allowed in the Commission meeting room.
