State Examined & Approved List of Intervention Programs
Florida Department of Education
The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) is committed to ensuring all students receive the support they need to succeed in reading and mathematics. In accordance with Florida Statutes, the department has reviewed and approved comprehensive intervention programs that meet high standards for quality, effectiveness and alignment with grade-level expectations.
It is important to note that districts retain the authority and responsibility to purchase materials that satisfy the needs of students in the district. Section (s.) 1006.28, Florida Statutes (F.S.), makes this clear by providing that, “[e]ach district school board is responsible for the content of all instructional materials and any other materials used in a classroom, made available in a school or classroom library, or included on a reading list, whether adopted and purchased from the state-adopted instructional materials list, adopted and purchased through a district instructional materials program under s. 1006.283, F.S., or otherwise purchased or made available.” The requirement for the department to provide districts with a list of approved intervention materials did not alter district requirements under chapter 1006, F.S. Therefore, the department recommends that districts use their normal procedures when considering a purchase from the state-approved intervention lists.
Kindergarten through Grade 3 English Language Arts (ELA)
Section 1008.25(5)(a)1., Florida Statutes: “The department shall provide a list of state examined and approved comprehensive reading and intervention programs.”

Section 1008.25(6)(a)3., Florida Statutes: “The department shall provide a list of state examined and approved mathematics intervention programs, curricula, and high-quality supplemental materials that may be used to improve a student’s mathematics deficiencies.”
