September 2025 Go Extra Mile (GEM): Employee of the Month Pep Rally

Tallahassee, Fla., September 19, 2025  - The September 2025 Go Extra Mile(GEM): Employee of the Month Pep Rally was held in conjunction with the annual Florida Distinguished Educator Ceremony, where Florida’s 2025 Teacher of the Year Mark Harrison, Principal of the Year Joseph Mikulski, Assistant Principal of the Year Dr. Bryan Alvaré and School-Related Employee of the Year Kelsie Rodriguez were recognized for their outstanding contributions to students and schools across the state.

During the event, Mark Harrison, 2026 Florida Teacher of the Year, shared a few inspiring words about the impact of educators and the difference they make in students’ lives before the ceremony transitioned to the GEM recognition.

At the end of the event, Commissioner Kamoutsas announced the September GEM, Lee Peck from Just Read, Florida! Lee’s commitment to excellence over complacency and her dedication to supporting students, teachers and districts make her truly deserving. The Commissioner then welcomed Vice Chancellor of Literacy Achievement Lindsay Brown to provide a few personal remarks about Lee’s contributions and her vital role in the office of Just Read, Florida!

Following the ceremony, a meet-and-greet provided an opportunity for Distinguished Educators to connect with FDOE staff, celebrating the dedication and leadership of those making a meaningful impact in Florida’s schools.
