Fall Regional Civics Literacy Professional Learning Event
St. Petersburg, Fla., November 8, 2025 – The Fall Regional Civics Literacy Professional Learning Event was held November 8, in St. Petersburg, providing 100 K-12 educators with lessons, activities and engaging instructional strategies that can be readily implemented in the classroom. Teachers left the session with tools and resources to strengthen civics instruction, literacy skills, and student engagement across all grade levels.
Elementary sessions included the following topics:
- Building Civics Foundations through Analytical Strategies
- Engaging K-5 Students through Vocabulary, Questioning and Storytelling
- Celebrating the Founding Documents
Secondary sessions included the following topics:
- Designing Benchmarks-Aligned Civics Lessons: Integrating Primary Sources, Instructional Strategies and Student-Centered Learning
- From Text to Thinking: Reading and Writing Approaches in Civics
- Civics Language Lab: Mastering Vocabulary Skill
