Disability History and Awareness Weeks Kickoff
On October 4, 2017, The Florida Department of Education kicked off its Disability History and Awareness Weeks opening ceremony. Disability History and Awareness Weeks are observed October 2-13 as an opportunity to reflect on the valuable contributions individuals with disabilities make to the State of Florida. Speakers included Division of Public Schools Chancellor Hershel Lyons, Division of Blind Services Director Robert L. Doyle III, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Director Allison Flanagan and former VR Director Aleisa McKinlay. There was also special performance by the Electric People band.
