Civics Coaching Support
The Florida Department of Education is proud to have a dedicated Civics Literacy Team, a statewide free resource dedicated to strengthening civics instruction and improving student outcomes. These coaches are grounded in Florida’s Civics and Government Benchmarks and Florida’s Formula for Success, ensuring that every district, school and teacher has access to non-evaluative instructional support.
To help schools and educators, the Civics Literacy Directors and Coaches are available to:
- Provide comprehensive in-person and virtual support
- Offer individualized, one-on-one educator support (coaching, modeling, collaborative planning, and data analysis)
- Support effective implementation of Civics and Government standards
- Assist with the integration of primary sources into instruction
- Partner with consortiums, charter and private schools to expand and strengthen support
- Conduct engaging professional learning opportunities grounded in Civics and Government benchmarks-aligned high quality instructional practices

Capitol Complex Professional Learning Events (2025, 2026)
- The Capitol Complex Professional Learning Events bring educators to Tallahassee during the state legislative session. These engaging events allow educators to participate in interactive tours and hands-on learning sessions designed to build content knowledge and provide practical classroom resources.
