Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Monesia Brown and Tom Grady to the State Board of Education

Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Monesia Brown and Tom Grady to the State Board of Education.

Monesia Brown

Brown, of Tallahassee, is Director of Public Affairs and Government Relations for Walmart. Previously, she was General Counsel to the Florida Department of Management Services and Director of Legislative Affairs and Chief Cabinet Aide in the Florida Office of the Attorney General. Brown has been involved with the Volunteer Florida Foundation, Florida Education Foundation, Boystown North Florida, Maclay School and is the former Chairwoman of the Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend. Brown earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Illinois State University and her juris doctor from the University of Wisconsin.

Tom Grady

Grady, of Naples, is an attorney, Chairman of Quest for Success and Chief Investment Strategist for PureAssets Management Company. He is a former member of the Florida House of Representatives and also served as Commissioner of the Florida Office of Financial Regulation and President of Citizen’s Property Insurance Corporation. Grady has served on the State Board of Education since 2015 and is a former member of the Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida State University and his juris doctor from Duke University.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
