Outstanding School Volunteers Recognized

The 2011 Outstanding School Volunteers have been named by the Florida Department of Education in recognition of their exemplary dedication and commitment to quality education in Florida. The winners were selected based on the number of volunteer hours of service, years of service, and a unique contribution or characteristic of their services. The award recognizes a student, adult and senior volunteer in each of Florida’s five reporting regions. Each winner receives a congratulatory letter from Education Commissioner Dr. Eric J. Smith and a plaque.

The 2011 Outstanding School Volunteers are:


  • Region 1 – Booker Sexton, Allie Yniestra Elementary School, Escambia County
  • Region 2 – Tyler Jump, Orange Park High School, Clay County
  • Region 3 – Kaelyn Badura, Pine Ridge High School, Volusia County
  • Region 4 – Shelby Thompson, Watergrass Elementary, Pasco County
  • Region 5 – Dhruv Tank, Suncoast Community High School, Palm Beach County


  • Region 1 – Amy Morris, West Navarre Primary School, Santa Rosa County
  • Region 2 – Danette Drageset, High Springs Community School, Alachua County
  • Region 3 – Pam Molner, Palm Pointe Education Research School @ Tradition, St. Lucie County
  • Region 4 – Paul Pescatrice, North Ft. Myers High School, Lee County
  • Region 5 – Jose Andrade, Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center, Miami-Dade County


  • Region 1 – John McPhail, Wright Elementary School, Okaloosa County
  • Region 2 – Nina Beale, Crown Point Elementary School, Duval County
  • Region 3 – Lester Stafford, Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School, Brevard County
  • Region 4 – Bob Burtwell, Laurel Nokomis School, Sarasota County
  • Region 5 – Ivorine Martin, Benoist Farms Elementary, Palm Beach County
