Tallahassee Music Specialist Recognized As Music Educator of the Year
Martha B. Stanley has been selected as the recipient of the 2009 Music Educator of the Year by the Florida Music Educators Association. Mrs. Stanley is music specialist for grades K-5 at Hartsfield Elementary School in Tallahassee, and has been a music educator since 1972.
This award is given in recognition of outstanding merit in music teaching, and is awarded annually to the individual who has served his/her students, community and profession in an exemplary manner. The mission of FMEA is to promote quality, comprehensive music education for all Florida students as part of their complete education.
Mrs. Stanley was nominated for this award by the Board of Directors of the Florida Elementary Music Educators Association.
Martha Stanley received her Bachelor and Master of Music Education from the Florida State University, and holds Level Three certification in the Orff approach to music education. Mrs. Stanley is a two-time recipient of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra’s Wiley Housewright Award, in 2003 and 2008. She is a National Board Certified Teacher, an active mentor to other teachers and a frequent presenter at local, state and national level.
