Duval County Teacher Receives Target Grant
Mai D. Keisling, an art teacher at Paxon School for Advanced Studies, was recently selected to receive a $1,000 Target Field Trip Grant. She was one of 1,600 educators out of 16,000 applicants to receive the grant created to fund field trips for students across the country. Funds may be used to cover field trip-related costs such as transportation, ticket fees, resource materials and supplies.
To be eligible for the grant, the application had to include a description of the field trip, the benefits to students, the tie-in to the school curriculum, the number of students impacted and the proposed use of funds.
Beginning this month, she will take 140 art students to the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) both in Jacksonville.
