Bonita Springs Middle Earns National Award

Bonita Springs Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society™ (NJHS) Chapter has been awarded an Outstanding Service Project award by the National Honor Society™ and the National Junior Honor Society™ for its “Operation NICU” initiative.

Members of the NJHS chapter at the school devised a project to help babies in The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). They made fleece blankets and knit caps to keep the babies warm, helping them to continue to grow and thrive, and donated stuffed animals to the parents for emotional comfort.

Created in 1994, the Outstanding Service Project awards were created to recognize NHS/NJHS chapters that make significant community service contributions at the local level.
