Inlet Grove/Suncoast Robotics Championship FinalistThe robotics team from Inlet Grove High School and Suncoast High School won the 2007 FIRST Robotics Championship Finalist trophy and the Archimedes Division Champion trophy. The team, comprised of 17 students and adult engineer mentors, built a 120-pound robot in eight weeks for the competition. Three hundred forty-four teams gathered in the Atlanta Georgia Dome to play “Rack and Roll,” in which three robots allied against three opposing robots to put inflatable plastic rings on a multi-level rack or raising their partner off the field. The team beat its opponent by a score of 54-59. The FIRST Robotics Competition is a unique varsity sport of the mind designed to help high-school-aged young people discover how interesting and rewarding the life of engineers and researchers can be. |
