Broward County School Color Guard Wins Gold Medal

The J.P. Taravella High School color guard earned the Scholastic Class A Gold Medal at the annual Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships, held recently in Dayton, Ohio. The 15-member team received the honor for their presentation of a "Soldier's Silent Night."

The achievement marked the first time any Broward County school in any color guard division (A, Open or World) received a gold medal at the WGI World Championships.

One hundred-twelve groups from the United States, Canada, Japan, France and England competed in this year’s Scholastic Class A world championships.

Winter Guard International (WGI) is the nonprofit youth organization leading the winter guard and indoor percussion activities.
