Oviedo High Student Receives International Scholarship Honor
Oviedo High student Craig "Rezzy" Hitchcock has been selected for
the U.S.Congress-Bundestag Exchange in Germany for the 2006-2007 school year.
He will be taking part in a one year, international, all-expense paid study
program funded by the U.S. Congress and German government.
The exchange will involve not only attending a German college preparatory school
as a full time student, but also shadowing a member of the German Parliament
once a month at the Reichstag or German Capitol, in Berlin.
Rezzy was selected from nearly 400 students from the southeast region for this
honor. The criteria was not solely based on GPA, but also a series of evaluations,
interviews, grades in German classes, and overall maturity. Former and current
teachers were also required to fill out evaluations. This is the first time
an Oviedo High School student has won this nationally recognized scholarship.
Mr. Bradley Willis, Oviedo High School German teacher said, "I have no
doubt that Rezzy will represent Oviedo High School, the State of Florida, and
the United States of America very well in Germany."
