Office of Safe Schools-School - Masters of Disaster and the Sunshine State Standards

Advisory Committee

Masters of Disaster Banner

With assistance from the Palm Beach County Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Office of Safe Schools and the Florida Institute of Education have worked together on aligning the American Red Cross Masters of Disaster curriculum with the Sunshine State Standards. Age-appropriate copies of the Masters of Disaster curriculum kits were distributed to Florida's public schools in the Fall of 2000. The curriculum is designed to help teachers integrate important disaster safety information into their regular lesson plans for the core subjects in the table below.

Language Arts
Social Studies

If you have questions about the curriculum, please contact Julie Collins in the Office of Safe Schools at or (850) 245-0676.

Additional copies of the curriculum can be ordered through the American Red Cross.
