Are you Ready To Work?
Are you an employer looking for skilled employees who can make a difference in your organization, or are you seeking an “edge” to land your next job?The Department of Education Division of Workforce Education has your solution – a credential program that gives potential employees valuable tools and helps employers obtain the skilled employees they need. The Ready To Work program evaluates individuals on three assessments, including Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics and Locating Information. Individuals who master these areas obtain the Ready To Work Credential – the keys for success. Employers who hire individuals who have earned Ready To Work Credential can be assured that they are getting qualified, skilled workers ready to hit the ground running.
How Do I Obtain the Ready To Work Credential?
- Sign up at a participating assessment center
- Complete the online pre-instructional assessment to determine mastery level
- Enroll in self-paced tutorial course work if needed
- Complete the proctored WorkKeys assessments
- Receive a Ready to Work Credential, signed by the Governor, once mastery level expectations have been achieved
There are three levels of the Ready to Work Credential:
- BRONZE (minimum score of 3 or above on all three assessments)
- SILVER (minimum score of 4 or above on all three assessments)
- GOLD (minimum score of 5 or above on all three assessments)
For Example: Scores of 3-3-5 would result in a Bronze certificate. Participants may re-take the assessment to achieve a higher level certificate at anytime.
How Can I Be Involved in the Ready To Work Program?
Florida Ready to Work is funded by the Florida Legislature and there is no cost for participation. Students, job seekers, employers, schools or other partners are encouraged to take part in this innovative program. The program is administered by the Division of Workforce Education in cooperation with Worldwide Interactive Network (WIN) and the nationally recognized ACT® WorkKeys program. WIN provides the online pre-diagnostic assessment and training courseware, career database and other program support. ACT provides the assessment and credential materials, while qualified sites will provide the on-site testing. In addition to the three WorkKeys® assessments, Florida’s Ready to Work Credential will by this fall include a work-readiness component, which measures applicants’ personal qualities (dependability, assertiveness, self-management, honesty/integrity) and interpersonal skills (communications, customer service, teamwork and leadership skills).
