Florida Troops to Teachers Services

The Florida Troops to Teachers Program Office is the focal point for information concerning the Florida teacher certification and teaching opportunities in Florida. The office's goals are to provide each contact the information needed to fully understand the certification and employment process, where they stand in meeting the certification requirements needed for employment and the options available to them. With this information each candidate will be able to choose the option that best meets their need to transition into their second career in teaching. Services provided by the office include:
  • Providing unofficial transcript reviews and counseling on eligibility for Florida teacher certification
  • Counseling on teaching job opportunities and Florida's critical teacher shortage areas
  • Briefing school districts and principals on the benefits of the program
  • Providing districts with names and contact information on Troops to Teachers candidates who may meet district hiring needs
To receive specific information concerning the eligibility for Florida certification, please forward unofficial copies of your transcripts, and other educational credentials to my office. Ensure you send transcripts listing all college courses you have completed. We will then complete an unofficial review of your transcripts and provide you information concerning your eligibility to obtain a certificate. The purpose of this review is to provide you with all your options in pursuing your teacher certification. Once you have determined your best alternative, you must submit your application for a Florida Educator’s Certificate to the Bureau of Educator Certification. Also, please provide the following information:
  • Telephone number
  • Address
  • Branch of Service
  • SSN (for employment verification purposes)
  • Years of service
  • Date retired/separated
  • Gender (optional)
  • Race or Ethnic background (optional)
