The Bureau of Educator Recruitment, Development and Retention provides assistance to teacher candidates, teacher educators, and school district staff through the evaluation and coordination of a variety of programs and services for attracting, developing and retaining a high performing professional education workforce to directly impact increased student performance.

Programs and Services Contact
Coordinates Florida's teacher recruitment website,, Florida Future Educators of America, and other related programs.
Provides leadership in coordinating and facilitating a state system of review for initial and continuing state approval of Educator Preparation Programs, Educational Leadership Programs (PDF, 53KB), District Alternative Certification Programs and Educator Preparation Institutes at community and state colleges, four-year colleges and universities, and school districts in Florida. Coordinates the state report of teacher preparation programs for the Title II, Higher Education Act.
Coordinates the Florida Department of Education/Macy's Florida Teacher of the Year Program, Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership, Outstanding Assistant Principal Achievement Award, and the Florida School-Related Employee of the Year Program.
Provides leadership and coordination for the review and implementation of district Professional Development Systems (Section 1012.98, Florida Statutes, School Community Professional Development Act), District Performance Evaluation Systems, Add-On Certification programs, and the William Cecil Golden School Leadership Development Program; and directs the development and delivery of Clinical Educator Training Programs. Coordinates dissemination of Florida Educator Accomplished Practices. Ed.D.
Coordinates the Title II-A, Teachers and Principals Training and Recruiting Fund Program and assists with other federal and state programs.
Administers the Dale Hickam Excellent Teaching Program.
