Florida State Models of Evaluation Systems

In response to district requests for assistance in development of evaluation systems that meet the intent of Section 1012.34, Florida Statutes, the Department provides model evaluation systems for instructional personnel and school administrators that are aligned with:
  • The Florida Educator Accomplished Practices (FEAPs) and/or Florida Principal Leadership Standards (FPLS) as appropriate, and
  • Contemporary research on proficiency expectations relative to the positions to be evaluated.

The state models include observation and evaluation instruments, crosswalks that identify alignment with the core standards and expectations, rubrics that illustrate criteria for proficiency levels, performance ratings, and illustrative scoring and weighting methods that conform to the requirements of state statutes and rules. School districts have the option to use or modify the state models for evaluation or develop models of their own that are based on the FEAPs/FPLS and contemporary research relevant to the purposes of instructional and school administrator evaluation.
