Outstanding Assistant Principal Achievement Award Program
The Outstanding Assistant Principal Achievement Award was established in 1997, to recognize exemplary assistant principals for their contributions to their schools and communities. The program honors assistant principals that have utilized teamwork and leadership skills to increase student performance, promote safe learning environments and establish partnerships with parents and community members.Nomination packets are sent to district superintendents. Each year,
district superintendents nominate three assistant principals. Each
assistant principal represents one of three school levels: elementary,
middle or high school. District nominees compete only within their
respective school levels. From the nominations, one nominee per
school level is selected such that a total of three assistant principals
statewide are named recipients of the Outstanding Assistant Principal
Achievement Award.
To qualify, a nominee must have not less than three years of experience as an assistant principal, vice principal or associate principal at a public school. Each candidate is required to have served his/her current school not less than two years preceding the filing of the application.
