Commissioner of Education Applauds Alachua and Osceola School Boards on Approving Teacher Raises

~ Boards approve Governor Scott's pay raise for district's teachers ~

Tallahassee, Fla., November 7, 2013 - Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart today expressed her appreciation to the Alachua and Osceola County School Boards for approving teacher pay raises championed by Governor Rick Scott. The governor pledged $480 million earlier this year to reward teachers and thank them for their nationally-recognized efforts in raising student achievement. The boards approved the raises earlier this week.

"I am deeply grateful the Alachua and Osceola school boards voted to support Governor Scott's priority of rewarding teachers for their hard work in preparing students for success," said Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart. "Governor Scott knows that teachers are the frontline leaders in improving student achievement and they deserve this recognition."
