Florida Department of Education Releases Florida Vs. Illinois Education Report Card

Tallahassee, Fla., April 17, 2013 - Today, the Florida Department of Education released a report card comparing Florida's education effectiveness to mega-state Illinois. This report underscoring Florida's educational successes comes during the current Florida legislative session, which is discussing the Governor's proposed budget that increases investments in K-12 education by $1.2 billion and includes a $2,500 pay raise for Florida's K-12 classroom teachers.

Governor Rick Scott said, "Our education system is making tremendous gains and the nation is taking notice. We are building on this progress by investing $1 billion more in our K-12 education system in this budget, which includes a $2,500 pay raise for all fulltime teachers."
