State Board of Education Member John Padget to Visit Key West Charter Schools

Tallahassee, Fla. - To kick off National Charter School Week, State Board of Education member John Padget will visit two Monroe County charter schools on Monday. He will be joined by Michael Kooi, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Education's Office of Independent Education and Parental Choice.

Charter schools are independent public schools created on the basis of an agreement between a group of school organizers and a sponsoring school district. Each is unique in their educational approach and has their own governing board that is responsible for setting policies and procedures.
