Department of Education and Duval County Public Schools to Host Community Engagement Meeting

The Florida Department of Education, in partnership with Duval County Public Schools, will host a community engagement meeting tomorrow at William M. Raines High School. Parents, community leaders and other supporters of North Shore Elementary School, Andrew Jackson High School, Jean Ribault High School, and William M. Raines High School are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to learn how the local community can get involved in helping these schools increase student achievement.

The event will feature national speakers Dr. Crystal Kuykendall, a human relations and education expert who has gained national recognition for her extensive talents and expertise in promoting problem resolution, and Justin Cohen, who leads the School Turnaround Group in launching the Partnership Zone Initiative at Mass Insight Education.

This community engagement event is being held as a part of the Intervene status waiver granted for these schools during the July 19, 2011, State Board of Education meeting.
