Education Commissioner Dr. Eric J. Smith: Regarding the Leading the Way Summit in Tampa

“Last night I had the proud honor of delivering the keynote address for the tremendously important Leading the Way: Strategies for Transforming Florida Schools Summit in Tampa. This event is significant because it brings all of Florida’s education stakeholders together to openly discuss the issues we are facing, and the shared strategies we can employ to better the lives of all our children.

“The academic progress our state has experienced over the last decade has shown us that with great teaching, innovative leadership and solid policy decisions, we can bring about profound improvements in our schools and classrooms. But it is also very clear that we have a long way to go in making sure that every student has access to a high quality education. I look forward to the many conversations ahead as we work in partnership to implement bold reform efforts that will positively impact our children for generations to come.”
