Statements By: State Board of Education Chairman T. Willard Fair and Education Commissioner Dr. Eric J. Smith Regarding State Board Member Susan Story’s Resignation

“It is a privilege and an honor to work alongside State Board member Story as her passion for student success is contagious,” said Chairman Fair. “She is an innovative thinker and problem solver and she will be greatly missed by the State Board of Education. Florida students, teachers, parents, and all educational stakeholders have benefitted from her tireless efforts and this positive impact will undoubtedly be felt for many years to come. I wish her all the best and know she will create new standards for success wherever life leads her.”

“Working with State Board member Story has been an absolute pleasure,” said Commissioner Smith. “Florida’s students are her first and only priority when making decisions or implementing critical education reforms and she has played a pivotal role in developing policy that affects millions of Florida students and their families. She has proven herself as a true leader and I admire her integrity and professionalism. I know her drive and determination will lead her to achieve further success in Atlanta.”
