Statement By: Education Commissioner Dr. Eric J. Smith Regarding 2010 National Arts in Education Week
“Integrating arts education into our classrooms is critical to a well-rounded educational environment for our students. From dance, music, theater, and visual arts, this type of curriculum has proven to help bolster critical thinking and communication while strengthening foundation skills among students of all ages. I am honored to recognize the phenomenal contributions of arts educators throughout our state this week and during the school year for their help with nourishing students’ artistic talents and ability to help them grow personally through creative expression.”
