Statement By: Education Commissioner Dr. Eric J. Smith Regarding visits to Key West schools

“I was honored to join State Board of Education member John R. Padget and Monroe County School District Superintendent Dr. Joseph Burke for visits to five outstanding schools in Key West today. Our stops took us to Gerald Adams Elementary School, Poinciana Elementary School, Horace O’Bryant Middle School, Glynn Archer Elementary School and Key West High School, and during each visit I found myself uniquely impressed by the quality teaching I observed and the superior learning environments students had access to.

“My congratulations go out to the teachers, staff and administrators in these schools for the incredible work they are doing on behalf of their students. I would also like to commend Superintendent Burke for his phenomenal leadership and the collaborative spirit he uses to propel his district forward and deliver successful results for his students. It is obvious that Monroe County School District is in good hands and I look forward to visiting with them again soon.”
