“CollegeWeekLive makes it easy for us to extend our reach to students we wouldn’t otherwise be able to, encouraging them to consider Florida for their college education,” said Nikki Chun, Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions, University of Miami. “High school students can get a feel for the higher education opportunities the state of Florida offers from the convenience of a computer.”
Attendees can participate in webcam sessions with current college students at campuses across Florida for a more informal take on student life and can watch live keynote presentations from leading experts on admissions topics such as writing application essays, school fit and financial aid.
“CollegeWeekLive serves as an excellent opportunity to help our young people understand the benefits that a postsecondary education offers in today’s highly competitive global economy,” said Florida Education Commissioner Dr. Eric J. Smith. “I encourage students and parents to attend this free online admissions event to learn more about the wide variety of higher education options the state of Florida offers.”
College access agencies such as the Florida Department of Education, the Florida Education Agency (FEA) and the Florida College Access Network (FCAN) are participating in the event, along with ongoing CollegeWeekLive partners the US Department of Education’s Federal Student Financial Aid Office, and the Hispanic Colleges and Universities Association (HACU).
“CollegeWeekLive is a great opportunity to expand access, and is a cost-efficient tool for reaching out to students without incurring the traditional costs associated with a live on-campus event,” said Dr. Willis N. Holcombe, Chancellor of The Florida College System.
CollegeWeekLive has transformed the traditional college admissions experience and has been featured in national and major market media, such as ABC, Fox, CBS, and NBC television news affiliates, the New York Times, USA Today and the San Francisco Chronicle.
