Department of Education to Kick Off Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida!

The Department of Education will kick off Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, in Tallahassee with special guests Florida Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson, Florida Surgeon General Dr. Ana Viamonte-Ros, Director of Capitol Police Dennis Bustle, and Tuffy, the first and only horse to be enrolled in the Florida public school system.

Representatives from the Department’s Celebrate Literacy Week, Florida! partners, Scholastic and the Volunteer USA Foundation, will also join the festivities to promote the importance of literacy. Student performers will be present and the Department will announce the 2010 Celebrate Literacy, Florida! student public service announcement contest winners.
