Statement By: State Board of Education Chairman T. Willard Fair
Regarding the 2009 Florida Charter School Conference
“This morning, I was honored to welcome attendees to the 2009 Florida Charter School Conference in Orlando. To see charter school teachers and administrators, state officials, and parents all working together to learn from one another to improve our learning environments is truly inspiring.
“The charter school model, created more than a decade ago, was designed to provide greater educational choice and innovation within the public school system. No two students are alike, and the learning options we provide for our students should reflect this diversity. The annual Charter School Conference allows all those invested in the success of Florida’s school choice options to share the best of all they’ve learned, continuously infusing our charter school community with new energy and new ideas. The enthusiasm and dedication I’ve witnessed today have instilled in me great confidence that Florida’s charter school movement is one of the best in the nation and will continue to provide Florida’s students with the high quality education they deserve.”
