Commissioner's Statement
Monday, November 2, 2009DOE Press Office
(850) 245-0413
Statement By: Education Commissioner Dr. Eric J. Smith
Regarding Parental Involvement in Education Month“The most powerful force in a child’s education is the love, caring, inspiration and guidance they receive from their parents and family on a daily basis. When that support is in place, endless possibilities open up for our young people and no dream becomes too big for them to accomplish."
“In recognition of the role parents and families play in the education and development of their children, November has been proclaimed Parental Involvement in Education Month by Governor Charlie Crist. Research shows that family and parental involvement in a child’s learning is vital for student academic success. Please join me in recognizing that parents are a child’s first teacher, laying the foundation that promotes active learning and success later in life.”
