Florida Department of Education/Macy’s 2010 Teacher of the Year to be Announced Tonight

Education Commissioner Dr. Eric J. Smith will announce the Florida Department of Education/Macy’s 2010 Teacher of the Year tonight in Orlando. The event will be streamed live via several Web sites. Individuals interested in viewing the announcement may go to the Florida Department of Education’s home page at www.fldoe.org to link directly to the live streaming video sites.

The five finalists for the award are:

• Patricia Fairclough, Air Base Elementary School, Dade County
• Megan Allen, Cleveland Elementary School, Hillsborough County
• Emily Barbacci, Lawton Chiles High School, Leon County
• Melissa Reiker, Apopka High School, Orange County
• Marilynn Pedek, Suncoast Community High School, Palm Beach County

The Florida Department of Education/Macy’s 2010 Teacher of the Year Gala will be held:
Thursday, July 9, 2009
6:30 p.m.

Orlando
