State Board of Education to Participate in Next Generation High School Initiatives Workshop in Tallahassee

The State Board of Education and Education Commissioner Eric J. Smith will participate in a Next Generation High School Initiatives workshop on Monday, April 14, 2008, in Tallahassee. The workshop will address potential methods of building on existing high school reform efforts to further increase academic performance and enhance acceleration opportunities for students at these grade levels. Emphasis will also be placed on ways to better prepare students for postsecondary education and entry into the workforce.

Workshop participants include Frances Haithcock, Chancellor of Florida Public Schools; Jay Pfeiffer, Deputy Commissioner of Accountability, Research and Measurement; and Mike Cohen, President of Achieve, Inc.
