Commissioner Winn to Visit Lincoln Avenue Academy

LAKELAND — Education Commissioner John L. Winn will visit Lincoln Avenue Academy today to present the Milken National Educator Award to an outstanding Florida teacher. Commissioner Winn will be joined by Polk County Superintendent Gail McKenzie, Ph.D, Polk County School Board member Kay Fields; and 2004 Milken Educator Award recipient Sharon Moser.

Please note that the Milken National Educator Award is a surprise to the recipient whose name will not be revealed until it is announced during an assembly at the school.

The Milken Family Foundation National Educator Awards were established in 1985 to recognize and reward outstanding K-12 educators. As part of the largest educator recognition program in the nation, each Milken award recipient receives an unrestricted $25,000 cash award.
