Commissioner Winn to Open Dropout Prevention Conference
2007 Effective Strategies Institute on Dropout Prevention Planting Seeds
of Promise: Reaching, Teaching, and Engaging
TAMPA Education Commissioner John L. Winn tomorrow will open the 2007 Effective Strategies Institute on Dropout Prevention Planting Seeds of Promise: Reaching, Teaching, and Engaging, a dropout prevention conference at the Belleview Biltmore Resort in Tampa. The event is hosted by the Florida Department of Education in conjunction with the National Dropout Prevention Center at Clemson University. School administrators, teachers, guidance counselors, social workers, school psychologists and others from throughout the state will attend the event. The conference will feature nationally known keynote speakers, as well as professional educators. Presentations will emphasize a variety of strategies that work with students who are at risk of dropping out of school before high school graduation.
