Statement by Florida State Board of Education Chairman T. Willard Fair Regarding Selection as State Board of Education Chairman

"I am pleased and proud to not only have the opportunity to continue to serve, but also to lead this distinguished, committed group whose mission is to do what is in the best interest of Florida's children. My selection as chairman of the State Board of Education is a testament to the fact that it does not matter who you are, what you look like or where you come from — you can be a part of something great and be tapped for extraordinary things.

Being involved in Florida's State Board of Education is truly an honor and it is a privilege to follow Phil Handy as chair of this body. While the hierarchy of the board may have changed, we will remain partners in our collective goal to improve education for every single student in our state."
