Barnes and Noble to Donate Books to Two Miami-Dade Elementary Schools

MIAMI — Florida's 2006 Teacher of the Year Sam Bennett tomorrow will join representatives from Barnes and Noble to deliver books to two Miami-Dade elementary schools. Phyllis Wheatley Elementary and Lenora Braynon Smith Elementary will receive donated books following a Just Read, Florida! and Barnes and Noble holiday book drive, which collected 1,750 books.

Just Read, Florida! is Governor Bush's statewide reading initiative the prioritizes reading in Florida public schools. The goal of all students reading on grade level or higher by 2010 supports Governor Bush's belief that reading is the most powerful skill a child can learn. The partnership between Just Read, Florida! and Barnes and Noble seeks to support education and literacy in communities throughout Florida.
