Governor's Access and Diversity Commission Will Meet With the Florida Board of Governors on January 26 in Gainesville
TALLAHASSEE The Governor's Access and Diversity Commission will meet January 26 with the Student Affairs Committee of the Florida Board of Governors to explore ways the State University System can increase access and enrich diversity.
The two groups will meet from 10 a.m. to noon EST in the Grand Ballroom in the J. Wayne Reitz Union at the University of Florida.
Governor Jeb Bush created the 17-member Access and Diversity Commission to work with the Board of Governors on issues surrounding minority enrollment and to advocate for financial-aid enhancements and other enrollment proposals he announced earlier this month. For more on the governor's proposals, see Governor Bush Announces Access and Diversity Initiative. (PDF)
Sheila McDevitt of the Florida Board of Governors serves as chair of both the Governor's Access and Diversity Commission and the Student Affairs Committee. A list of the members of the Governor's Access and Diversity Commission is attached.
The Strategic Planning/Education Policy Committee of the Board of Governors will meet earlier in the day, also in the Grand Ballroom of UF's J. Wayne Reitz Union. That meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. EST.
The full Board of Governors will meet in the same location at 1 p.m. EST. Agenda materials for the committee meetings and the full Board of Governors meeting are available online at www.flbog.org.
