Statement from Education Commissioner John L. Winn Regarding Announcements Made This Afternoon by Secretary Margaret Spellings, U.S. Department of Education

"We are encouraged by the announcements made this afternoon by Secretary Spellings and believe it is an outstanding formula that preserves the intent of the No Child Left Behind Act while rewarding states like Florida for their commitment to rising student achievement and accountability. I believe Florida would exceed most states in meeting the new policy set forth today and we look forward to working with the U.S. Department of Education in implementing this enhanced plan."
