Memo Regarding the National Governor's Association Report

TO: Members of the Media

Today, district school superintendents received communication from Education Commissioner John Winn that reflects the Department of Education's response regarding the National Governor's Association report released last month entitled, "Getting it Done: Ten Steps to a State Action Agenda."

In an effort to keep you apprised of Florida's progress toward higher student achievement and implementing the goals in Governor Bush's A+ Plan for Education, I am pleased to provide a copy of that correspondence. The attached document shows that Florida has made steady progress in implementing the steps mentioned in the report and that we continue to lead the nation in student progress and academic achievement.
