Just Read, Florida! Celebrates Hazardous Weather Awareness Week
Just Read, Florida! will have a reading event in conjunction with Hazardous Weather Awareness Week and Newspapers in Education on Wednesday at Turie T. Small Elementary School at 800 South Street in Daytona Beach.
The schedule for tomorrow's events includes Emergency Vehicle Tours by the State Emergency Response Team, American Red Cross, Florida Highway Patrol and the Volusia County Sheriff's Department.
Other events include:
Tornado Machine Presentation by the National Weather Service - Melbourne Office
8:15 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
Statewide Tornado Drill at:
9:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
In addition, Dave Marsh with WESH, David Jacobs with the National Weather Service,
Ben Nelson with the Division of Emergency Management, Dr. Margaret Smith, Superintendent
of Volusia County Schools, and Carolyn Vega, Director of Special Projects of
Just Read, Florida! will also read to students at:
9:30 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.
Media Availability will immediately follow the book reading in the school's
media center at:
10:20 a.m. - 10:40 a.m.
