Education Commissioner Horne Announces New Career Planning Tool for College Students on FACTS.ORG
Students Gain Competitive Edge for 21st Century Workplace
TALLAHASSEE Education Commissioner Jim Horne today announced a new online feature for Florida's college students on FACTS.org (Florida Academic Counseling and Tracking for Students). The Career Portfolio, available free on FACTS.org, was developed at Florida State University to help college students learn how to present classroom experience and extracurricular activities into skills of appeal in the workforce. Students can build and personalize their own career portfolio, while choosing potential employers and graduate schools.
"FACTS.org is a valuable source of information for students and guidance counselors in high school and college," said Commissioner Horne. "The new Career Portfolio will help Florida's students excel in today's dynamic workforce."
FACTS.org is Florida's one stop student advising system designed by the Department of Education to help high school and college students make informed choices about their education. Students can get all their information in one place, such as postsecondary opportunities for high school graduates, online applications for college and financial aid, and even assistance choosing a major. FACTS.org provides access to complete transcripts and academic counseling online at no cost to students.
For more information and to view samples of the new career portfolios, please visit www.facts.org.
