Commissioner Jim Horne and Chancellor Jim Warford will visit Ryder Elementary Charter School (Miami-Dade) and Hoover Middle School (Brevard County), two of seven Florida Mentor Teacher School Pilot Program (FMTSPP) schools. The program was established to reward excellence in the teaching profession and improve student performance. The FMTSPP was modeled after the Milken Family Foundation's Teacher Advancement Program (TAP).
During the visit the Commissioner and Chancellor Warford will witness how the FMTSPP/TAP provides an integrated solution to the challenges of teacher quality by observing cluster groups and classroom demonstrations.
