Education Commissioner Horne to Award Palm Beach County with $2.6 Million Reading First Grant

Education Commissioner Jim Horne will visit Indian Pines Elementary School in Lake Worth on Wednesday to read to third grade students and present a check for $2.6 million to Palm Beach County Schools for the Reading First grant.

Reading First grants help districts and schools implement proven methods of scientifically-based reading instruction to prevent reading difficulties for students in grades K-3. The reading coaches provided through the grants will serve as a stable resource for professional development, progress monitoring and student data analysis leading to improvements in reading instruction and achievement.

The Commissioner's visit will take place at:
